JoyCon Droid is not affiliated with anything linked here. They are just examples and alternatives that are available.
- Bliss OS allows you to run Android on many PCs and laptops, and can be run from a USB drive or installed alongside your OS with a dual boot install. It is pre-rooted with KernelSU, which is compatible with modules developed for Magisk. This should allow you to use JoyCon Droid from a PC, as long as you follow the guide and your PC has Bluetooth. Note that this won't work in virtual machines.
Adapters - If you have other controllers like DualShock 4/DualSense, Xbox, etc, you can purchase an adapter such as the 8BitDo adapter.
NTAG215 (Making your own physical amiibo backups) - If your Android device has NFC, you can create your own amiibo backups using NTAG215 stickers and the app. These are stickers/cards that are very inexpensive and can be found in packs on Amazon or eBay. Once written to, the amiibo will permanently stay on the sticker and cannot be overwritten with a different amiibo. They can be used just like real amiibos. A guide is available .
If you own an iPhone, there are also the , or apps to create amiibos with NTAG 215 stickers.
Devices that emulate physical Amiibos - There are some more expensive devices that are capable of storing many amiibos, however the NTAG215 stickers are the most cost efficient alternative that is overall very simple and doesn't require a rooted Android.
Some cheaper devices are something such as or many other NTAG215 emulating devices that are appearing online.
- Using Linux on a virtual machine or running natively, controller and NFC (amiibo) emulation is possible. Although it is also recommended for advanced users, it does not nearly require as many conditions as JoyCon Droid, but may depend on an external Bluetooth adapter for better compatibility. If you only want to emulate a controller, then might be better.
Custom firmware on a Switch, such as Atmosphère, allows advanced control and greater possibilities. You can use homebrew such as to use other controllers without adapters, and to emulate amiibo directly on your Switch. However, this requires an older model Switch or a modchip. Using CFW can possibly damage your Switch if you don't know what you're doing or cause your Switch to be permanently banned from online services.
